Lisa began dance when she was three years old in Rochester, NY. She then took dance with Oxx Dancing School from age 7-18 and was a dance assistant from 1993-1998. Lisa was also involved in the Hornell Intermediate-Hornell High School plays from 6th grade through 12th grade. The plays include: The Pale Pink Dragon, Little Shop of Horrors, South Pacific, Sound of Music, Into the Woods, The King and I, and Anything Goes . She also choreographed some of these plays. Lisa was a member of the HHS Showchoir and choreographed for that too. She then went to college at Finger Lakes Community College and SUNY Brockport and majored in theatre and dance. While at Finger Lakes, Miss Lisa opened a dance workshop called, Dance Creations. She taught students and faculty free dance lessons in the areas of tap, jazz, ballet, and swing dance. While at SUNY Brockport, Lisa was chosen to intern at Walt Disney World. She worked in entertainment and attractions from January 2001-August 2001 and also received a 4.0 while also taking classes at Disney.
Lisa then decided to come back to Hornell, NY and decided to open her own dancing school, her childhood dream. She has been dancing now for 41 years and teaching for 31 years. She now directs, teaches, and owns Miss Lisa's Artistry of Dance. This is her 22th year with her studio. Lisa is also involved in the community too. She has choreographed for the Hornell Intermediate School plays, Cinderella, School House Rock, Jr., Seussical Jr., Honk Jr., Once Upon a Mattress, Alice in Wonderland, and The Lion King, Jr, Annie, Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz, Once on This Island, Elf Jr, Singing in the Rain, High School Musical, Matilda Jr, Willy Wonka, Frozen Jr, The Little Mermaid, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Finding Nemo Jr, The Music Man. Lisa has also been involved in the Hornell Rotary Club's production of Into the Woods and choreographed that show too. Lisa has produced many Veterans Day recitals and this November we completed our fifth Veterans production.
Lisa recently completed training at the Dance Masters of America Teacher Training School at The University at Buffalo and was tested to teach. Lisa received her certification for Dance Masters of America and was inducted in October 2010. She is now an active member of Dance Masters Chapter #8 Western, NY and is a four year Board of Directors member.
Lisa loves the arts. She has a strong passion for dance and theatre. She is willing to go the extra mile for her students so they gain personal gain and self worth. Miss Lisa was inducted into the Hornell High School Music & Art Hall of Fame. She received the Music Appreciation Award in 2012.
Miss Lisa has had a strong competition team that started competing Spring 2014 to present. Miss Lisa's dancers have won many awards and trophies. Dancers have traveled to Rochester, NY and Verona, NY to compete regionally. It's been a huge accomplishment for the dance studio to take dancers compete in western NY.
Miss Lisa was featured in the Dance Studio Life Magazine in the fall of 2015. She was the teacher in the spotlight and they interviewed Miss Lisa on her successful dance studio. Miss Lisa is truly living her dream. Thank you to all who support, and who have been loyal and dedicated to her dance studio.
